Doctor by the Universidad Cardenal Herrera-CEU with the thesis Una nueva superfamilia de reguladores transcripcionales controla el empaquetamiento y la lisis de bacteriófagos de Gram-positivos 2013. Supervised by Dr. José Rafael Penadés Casanova.

I am a Principal Investigator and Lecturer at Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera, where I lead the MoBiLab research group, focusing on the molecular biology of bacteriophages and other mobile genetic elements. My work aims to understand how these elements regulate their dissemination, mediate DNA transfer, and contribute to bacterial evolution and pathogenicity. After receiving my PhD in 2013 (Extraordinary Doctorate Award, CEU UCH), I built a solid international track record spanning nearly a decade as a postdoctoral researcher at prestigious institutions, including the University of Glasgow and Imperial College London. Throughout my career, I have contributed to key discoveries in high-efficiency DNA transduction mechanisms and phage communication systems. Key Highlights Scientific Production: Author of 21 papers in high-impact journals (including Science, Cell, Nature Microbiology, Nature Communications, and PNAS). Competitive Funding: Principal Investigator (PI) on projects funded by the Spanish National Research Plan (including PID2022 and Ramón y Cajal grants, totaling over €380,000 in recent funding). Training and Leadership: Co-supervisor of 4 successfully defended PhD theses and currently directing 2 PhD students. Regular evaluator on thesis committees and invited speaker at international conferences. 2 sexenios ANECA and R3 certificate My current objective is to establish new international collaborations to decipher the molecular basis of phage decision-making systems, providing key insights in the fight against bacterial resistance.
