I am a Biochemist (by the University of Coimbra, Portugal) with a PhD in the field of Clinical Biochemistry and Immunology (by the University of Valencia, Spain) and since 2006 I have been developing a career in science research, mainly in the fields of cancer, regenerative medicine and, more recently, in the field of opto-nanotechnology for biomedical applications. I have worked in different research settings, both in Spain and Portugal, which gave me different perspectives in the field. The multidisciplinary nature of the group I was working for the last four and a half years was determinant in my professional development allowing me to gain insight into various methodological and conceptual approaches to relevant problems. Furthermore, as a manager of a technological core facility and expert in several important cell biology techniques (e.g. cell culture, flow cytometry, automated cell microscopy, high-content image analysis, confocal microscopy, laser microdissection microscopy) and molecular biology (e.g. RNA and DNA extraction, gene expression, transformation and transfection, high-throughput real time PCR with microfluidic systems), I collaborated as researcher in several projects meaning a great flexibility and capacity to adapt to different teams and frameworks. I consider myself as a very dynamic, pro-active and interactive colleague and I have the capability of mobilizing my coworkers for both scientific and out-reach activities. I am always eager to embrace new challenging projects. My scientific and technological achievements, together with my personality make me an easy fit and a good asset for research groups studying cell biology.
