Resumen: La campilobacteriosis y la salmonelosis son las zoonosis más frecuentes causantes de gastroenteritis humana en la Unión Europea y los Estados Unidos. Ambos patógenos se encuentran habitualmente en aves de corral, cerdos, ganado vacuno, ovejas y mascotas. El objetivo principal de la línea de investigación está relacionado con el estudio de la epidemiología de Salmonella y Campylobacter y el establecimiento de medidas de control de la granja al tenedor, así como el desarrollo de tratamientos alternativos al uso de antibióticos para el control de ambos patógenos. Summary: Campylobacteriosis and salmonellosis are the most frequently reported zoonoses and among the most common causes of diarrhoeal illness in the European Union and the United States. Both pathogens are routinely found in poultry, swine, cattle, dairy cows, sheeps and pets. The main objective of the research line is related with the study of Salmonella and Campylobacter epidemiology and the establishment of control measures from farm to fork, as well as the development of alternative treatments to the use of antibiotics against both pathogens.
